In the immortal words of Spock, "LIVE LONG & PROSPER,"
Mustafa. I've never known anyone quite like you and suspect I never will again.
I wish all were well, but we both know it isn't so all I can do is hope and pray every day that you are all right.
and that some day, you may realize what you threw away.
DEDICATION
As always in everything I do, this book is dedicated to my late mother, Ann...a truly remarkable woman.
Imbued with enormous intelligence, creativity & talent, and a keen sense of and for people, she was definitely no slouch when it came to sizing up the people she encountered...and she was ALWAYS right.
I know she would have loved Mustafa. Of all the people I know, she would have taken the measure of him immediately and instinctively...and instantly sensed that here was a person of tremendous worth and sensitivity. She would always have treated him with enormous respect and made him feel welcome in her presence.
She would have seen Mustafa for EXACTLY who he is and been captivated by what she saw and felt...and again, she would have been absolutely right. Amazingly she always was of course. Mothers just are, right? You betcha.
Here's to my mother, herself a gentle warrior...and Mustafa who she would have sensed right off the bat was a kindred spirit.
Someone of enormous integrity, honesty, and a tireless worker and advocate for the rights of all...always worried about the plight of those without a voice to which she so often lent hers.
Here's to both...and I tip my glass to the two people I admire most in both this life and the next one.
